FDLE AUTHORIZED VENDOR

What Is Florida LiveScan Fingerprinting?

Florida LiveScan is the official electronic fingerprinting system used by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) for state background checks, professional licensing, and employment screening. As an FDLE Authorized Vendor, ABQ Fingerprinting captures your fingerprints using certified LiveScan technology and submits them directly to Florida — from any of our six New Mexico locations

This service is designed for Florida residents who have relocated to New Mexico, New Mexico residents seeking Florida professional licenses, or anyone who needs FDLE fingerprinting outside of Florida. You do not need to travel to Florida to complete your submission. Your agency will provide an ORI number — bring it to your appointment so we can route your submission correctly.

Not sure if you need ABQ Fingerprinting or IdentoGO for your specific Florida license? Call 505-414-1787 or 877-340-8822, option 3 and we will confirm the right submission path before your visit.

📋

Florida Statute § 943.053(13)

All vendors submitting electronic fingerprints for Florida background checks must enter into a User Agreement with FDLE covering quality compliance, fee payment, and PII handling.

📅

Results in 3–5 Business Days

FDLE routes results to your requesting agency within 3–5 business days of submission. Results go directly to the licensing board — you do not need to forward them.

🔑

ORI Number is Mandatory

Without a correct ORI number, FDLE cannot route your results to the right agency. Your licensing board provides your ORI — bring it to your appointment.

✏️

Separate Submission Per License

Per FBI regulation, fingerprints cannot be shared between professions or agencies. A separate submission with the correct ORI is required for each Florida license you apply for.

OUR PROCESS

How FDLE LiveScan Submission Works

  1. Get Your ORI Number First
Your ORI (Originating Agency Identifier) number is mandatory for FDLE submissions. Without a correct ORI, FDLE cannot route your results to the right agency and your licensing board will not receive them. Your Florida licensing board or agency provides your ORI — it is typically included in your license application instructions or on a form from your board. If applying online, many boards pre-populate the ORI on a printable form. Call 505-414-1787 or 877-340-8822, option 3 to confirm your ORI before your visit.

  2. Book or Walk In
Schedule online at abqfingerprinting.com or walk in at any of our six New Mexico locations and scan the on-site QR code to register. Payment made online at satellite locations; cash and card accepted at Albuquerque main office.

  3.  LiveScan Fingerprint Capture
Certified technicians capture all 10 fingerprints using FBI-approved LiveScan equipment. Clean, accurate captures with a rejection rate under 1% — no ink, no mess, agency-ready results. AHCA applicants will also have a photo taken during their session.

  4.  Direct FDLE Submission
Your fingerprints are submitted electronically and directly to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement using your ORI number. Results are processed by FDLE and routed to your licensing board. You do not need to forward results — they go directly to the agency.

  5. Receive Your TCN
After submission you will receive a Transaction Control Number (TCN) by email. Your TCN confirms your fingerprints were successfully transmitted to FDLE. Provide your TCN to your employer or licensing board to monitor status. You can also track your submission directly through the FDLE website at fdle.state.fl.us using your TCN number.

AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT

Your Transaction Control Number (TCN)

After your FDLE fingerprints are submitted, you will receive a Transaction Control Number — commonly called a TCN — by email. Your TCN is proof that your fingerprints were successfully captured and transmitted to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Keep this number — you will need it.

Your TCN does not mean your background check is complete. It means your fingerprints are in FDLE's processing queue. FDLE routes results directly to your requesting agency or licensing board, typically within 3–5 business days. You do not receive a copy of your results — your licensing board does.

Track Your Submission

Use your TCN to check submission status directly on the FDLE website. Enter your TCN to confirm FDLE received your fingerprints and monitor your background check status.

🔄

If Your Prints Are Rejected

In rare cases FDLE may reject a submission for quality reasons. You will receive a TCR (Transaction Control Reference) number instead of a TCN. Bring your TCR to any ABQ Fingerprinting location for a free resubmission — our rejection rate is under 1%.

📧

AHCA Applicants

If you are submitting for an AHCA Level 2 background check, a photo is required at the time of fingerprinting. ABQ Fingerprinting captures this photo during your appointment. AHCA results are routed to your employer or facility directly.

I'm a nurse or healthcare worker — can I get my Florida background check done in New Mexico?

Electronic submission to FDLE and AHCA. All six locations. Walk-ins welcome. Call 877-340-8822, option 3.

What Florida licenses commonly require FDLE fingerprinting?
FDLE fingerprinting is required for nursing and healthcare (RN, LPN, CNA, APRN), AHCA Level 2 healthcare facility employment, Florida teaching certificates, real estate licensing, security officer licensing (Class D and Class G), social work and mental health counseling, childcare and DCF background screening, and foster parent and adoption home studies. Your licensing board will provide your ORI number.

What is the difference between FDLE and AHCA fingerprinting?
FDLE (Florida Department of Law Enforcement) is the state agency that processes all Florida LiveScan fingerprint submissions. AHCA (Agency for Health Care Administration) requires Level 2 background checks for healthcare workers, childcare staff, and others working with vulnerable populations. AHCA Level 2 checks are submitted through FDLE. ABQ Fingerprinting handles both as an authorized FDLE vendor. AHCA submissions also require a photo taken at the time of fingerprinting.

What is a TCN and what do I do with it?
A TCN (Transaction Control Number) is a confirmation number you receive by email after your fingerprints are successfully submitted to FDLE. It confirms your prints are in FDLE's processing queue. Use your TCN to track your submission status on the FDLE website at fdle.state.fl.us. Provide your TCN to your employer or licensing board — they may require it to confirm your submission.

How long does FDLE fingerprinting take to process?
FDLE routes results to your requesting agency or licensing board within 3–5 business days of submission. Results go directly to your board — you do not receive a personal copy and do not need to forward them. Contact your Florida licensing board for their specific processing timelines.

What is an ORI number and where do I get it?
An ORI (Originating Agency Identifier) tells FDLE which licensing board or agency should receive your results. Without a correct ORI your results cannot be routed. Your Florida licensing board provides your ORI — typically included in your license application instructions or on a board-issued form. Call 877-340-8822, option 3 if unsure.

Do I need ABQ Fingerprinting or IdentoGO for my Florida license?
Most Florida professional licenses use ABQ Fingerprinting as an FDLE Authorized Vendor; nursing, healthcare, real estate, education, security, childcare, social work, and more. Bring your ORI number and we will submit directly to FDLE from any of our six New Mexico locations. Not sure if your license falls under FDLE? Call 877-340-8822, option 3 with your ORI number and we will confirm before your visit.

I need fingerprinting for a Florida insurance license — do I use ABQ Fingerprinting or IdentoGO?
Florida insurance licensing through the Florida Department of Insurance (DOI) is contracted exclusively with IdentoGO by IDEMIA. ABQ Fingerprinting does not handle DOI insurance license fingerprinting submissions — you must go through IdentoGO directly. Call IdentoGO at 877-467-9215 to schedule your appointment.

What happens if my fingerprints are rejected?
Rejections are rare — our certified LiveScan equipment produces a rejection rate under 1%. If FDLE rejects your submission for quality reasons you will receive a TCR (Transaction Control Reference) number. Return to any ABQ Fingerprinting location with your TCR and we will resubmit at no additional charge.

Can I complete Florida Live Scan outside of Florida?
Yes. ABQ Fingerprinting submits Florida LiveScan electronically to FDLE from all six New Mexico locations. You do not need to be in Florida. This service is specifically designed for Florida residents who have relocated to New Mexico and New Mexico residents applying for Florida professional licenses.
