ATF-EFT Fingerprinting — NFA Form 1 & Form 4

NFA ELECTRONIC FINGERPRINTING — ATF APPROVED

ABQ Fingerprinting provides ATF-EFT electronic fingerprint files for NFA Form 1 and Form 4 applications at all six New Mexico locations. Your EFT file is delivered to your email and loaded onto a complimentary flash drive at your appointment — not locked to any dealer's kiosk or platform.

Unlike dealer-based fingerprinting systems, your EFT file belongs to you. Hand it to any FFL dealer, upload it directly to the ATF eForms portal, or forward it to your NFA trust attorney. All responsible persons in a gun trust can be fingerprinted at the same appointment. Your file never expires.

Frequently Asked Questions — ATF-EFT Fingerprinting

What is an ATF-EFT file?

An ATF Electronic Fingerprint Transmission (EFT) is the official electronic fingerprint file required by the ATF for NFA Form 1 and Form 4 applications. ABQ Fingerprinting captures your fingerprints using certified LiveScan technology and produces a compliant EFT file delivered to your email and loaded onto a complimentary flash drive at your appointment.

Is the $200 NFA tax stamp still required?

The $200 federal NFA tax stamp fee has been eliminated for most NFA items effective January 1, 2026 under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act extension. The NFA tax stamp itself is still required — only the fee has been waived. ATF-EFT electronic fingerprinting, background checks, and ATF approval are still mandatory for all applicants.

Can I use my EFT file at any FFL dealer?

Yes. Your EFT file belongs to you — it is not locked to any dealer's kiosk or platform. You can hand it to any FFL dealer, upload it directly to the ATF eForms portal, or forward it to your NFA trust attorney. There are no restrictions on where or how you use it.

Does my ATF-EFT file expire?

No. Your EFT file does not expire. If your NFA transfer takes months, your file remains valid and ready when your dealer needs it. No repeat appointments required.

Can all responsible persons in a gun trust be fingerprinted at the same appointment?

Yes. All responsible persons listed in a gun trust can be fingerprinted at the same appointment. Each person receives their own individual EFT file. Contact us at 877-340-8822 to coordinate a multi-person appointment.

How long does an ATF-EFT fingerprinting appointment take?

Most appointments take 5 to 10 minutes per person. Appointments must be scheduled and paid for online in advance. Same-day appointments are available at all six New Mexico locations in Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, Las Cruces, Taos, Farmington, and Carlsbad.

Do I need ATF-EFT fingerprinting for both Form 1 and Form 4?

Yes. ATF-EFT electronic fingerprinting is required for both NFA Form 1 (making an NFA item) and Form 4 (transferring an NFA item). ABQ Fingerprinting produces compliant EFT files for both form types at all six New Mexico locations.
