Frequently Asked Questions — Florida LiveScan Fingerprinting
What is Florida LiveScan fingerprinting?
Florida LiveScan is the official electronic fingerprinting system used by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) for state background checks, professional licensing, and employment screening. ABQ Fingerprinting is an authorized FDLE vendor and submits your fingerprints directly to Florida from any of our six New Mexico locations.
Can I get Florida fingerprinting done in New Mexico?
Yes. As an FDLE Authorized Vendor, ABQ Fingerprinting can capture and submit your fingerprints directly to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement from any of our six New Mexico locations in Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, Las Cruces, Taos, Farmington, and Carlsbad.
What is an ORI number and do I need one?
An ORI (Originating Agency Identifier) number is a unique code assigned to your Florida licensing board or requesting agency. It tells FDLE where to send your results. Your ORI number is provided by the agency requesting your fingerprints — bring it to your appointment. Without a correct ORI number we cannot route your submission.
How long does it take to get Florida LiveScan results?
FDLE routes results to your requesting agency within 3 to 5 business days of submission. Results go directly to your Florida licensing board — you do not need to forward them yourself.
Do I need ABQ Fingerprinting or IdentoGO for my Florida license?
It depends on your specific Florida licensing board. Fingerprint submissions for the Florida Department of Financial Services — including insurance licensing — must go through IdentoGO by IDEMIA. For all other FDLE submissions ABQ Fingerprinting submits directly as an authorized vendor. Not sure which applies to you? Call 877-340-8822 and select option 3 before your appointment.
What Florida licenses require FDLE fingerprinting?
FDLE fingerprinting is required for a wide range of Florida professional licenses including healthcare professionals, teachers, real estate agents, contractors, security personnel, childcare workers, and many other regulated professions. Your licensing board will specify the fingerprinting requirements and provide your ORI number.
Can I use the same fingerprints for multiple Florida licenses?
No. Per FBI regulation, fingerprints cannot be shared between professions or agencies. A separate LiveScan submission with the correct ORI number is required for each Florida license you apply for. Contact us at 877-340-8822 to schedule multiple submissions at the same appointment.
What should I bring to my Florida LiveScan appointment?
Bring a valid government-issued photo ID such as a driver's license or passport, and your ORI number provided by your Florida licensing board. Appointments must be scheduled and paid for online in advance at abqfingerprinting.com. Appointments take approximately 5 to 10 minutes.
